ABOUT Joan Hyman

Joan Hyman is the director and founder of The Schoolof.yoga™, an authentic international teacher training program focused on continuing education. Her grounded teaching style seamlessly supports her students as they emerge from their practice with the rich and bright energy that yoga has to offer. Joan’s teachings come from an organic and intuitive place, as she draws upon the combined studies of Ashtanga and Iyengar yoga as well as Ayurveda and meditation. An authentic modern-day yogi, Joan's love and devotion show up in her practice and throughout her teaching. You will leave her class feeling transformed and deeply aligned. 

Joan spent fifteen years as a distinguished YogaWorks Senior Teacher before bringing her expertise to Wanderlust as the Director of Teacher Trainings in 2016. Now, with over twenty years experience leading retreats, trainings, and international workshops, Joan travels the globe and teaches online, leading her own signature trainings. She has created The School of Yoga, which is a professional education program, helping students and inspiring teachers to work towards their five hundred hours Yoga Alliance Certification. A leader in the yoga community, Joan’s open-hearted approach to teaching yoga keeps both her inner spirit and her students continuously evolving.

The prices below are in Swiss francs and per person. Includes all the delicious moments to refuel the body and senses, meals, teachings and housing.

A minimum of 15 participants is required for this retreat, regardless of weather conditions. Your place can only be confirmed once we have received your deposit of 700 CHF. This deposit is deductible from the total cost of the immersion, but is non-refundable.

Join Joan Hyman for 4 days in the Beautiful SWISS Alps

Join Joan Hyman in a divine setting in the Swiss Alps at the scenic Hotel Balance in Salvan, Vallis surrounded by a breathtaking landscape. In this 4 day retreat we will gather in community, share our love for yoga, and immerse amongst mountains, waterfalls, and organic food. Enjoy a natural bio-pool, sauna, spa, and massages, and relax and rejuvenate as we move from autumn and prepare for the inward days of winter. There are numerous hiking trails surrounded by the beautiful forest of The Swiss Alps. 

Each day will focus around a certain theme for yoga and meditation practice. We will include restoratives to replenish your nervous system and help you sleep deep. True health and well-being come from following the rhythms of the sun, and as the days get shorter and nights get longer, this is a perfect time to turn inwards and enjoy the peaceful and tranquil setting that this retreat will provide. 


PROGRAM

The daily schedule may differ from the sample schedule, but this will give you an indication.

Thursday

Check-in, arrival starts Thursday from 2PM

First practice 4.00 PM - 6.00 PM

Enjoy a grounding practice focused on releasing the hips and hamstrings from travel. The legs hold wind like energy called vata and when they are pacified, the body and the mind can move towards stillness.

Dinner all together at 7PM

Friday Morning

8:30 AM- 10:30 AM

Twisting and Cleanse

We will continue to unwind and remove the tension of rajas out of the body with twisting postures. As we remove the energy that can keep us restless, we prepare the system for the inward practice of pranayama.

Friday Afternoon

4 PM - 6.30 PM

Sweetness & Ease

We will explore forward bends and restoratives that help to create sukha known as sweetness. A great sense of spaciousness can awaken through these gentle restorative practices that help us cultivate ease and well-being.

Saturday Morning

8:30 AM- 10:30 AM

Energize

This practice will include backbends that strengthen our spine and open at the same time. We will use the support of props and the wall to help cultivate a sense of stability as we explore openings in the chest region leading to pranayama.

Saturday Afternoon

4 PM - 6.30 PM

Moving towards stillness

We will discuss ways in our life to add mindfulness approaches to help practice staying more present. After a closing circle we will explore meditation techniques that help us connect to our body and still our mind.

Sunday Morning

8:30 AM- 10:30 AM

Strong and Centered

We will conclude the retreat with a centering practice focused on connecting to our core so we can leave feeling centered and strong, yet peaceful and calm at the same time.

Organic and Vegetarian

Hotel balance offer 100% organic and 100% vegetarian buffet meals that reflect the passion and rigor they put into selecting the products they serve.

CANCELLATION POLICY

Cancellation of participation in a programmed immersion can only be made in writing. Cancellations can be made by sending an e-mail to: info@soham.yoga.

The deposit is non-refundable, except in case of emergency and upon presentation of a medical certificate. In this case, please contact us as soon as possible. 50% of the deposit will be refunded.

If cancellation occurs after full payment has been received, the full amount will be refunded:

More than 60 days before the start of the event, 70% refund, with the exception of the registration deposit.

From the 31st to the 60th day before the start of the event, 50% refund, excluding the registration deposit.

From 0 to 30 days before the start of the event, no refund will be given.

If the retreat is cancelled, you will receive a full refund, including deposit.

Please note that this cancellation policy only applies if the entire retreat is cancelled and not if you need to cancel the retreat for personal reasons (including Covid).

Please be aware that we cannot refund the price of flights or other expenses related to the retreat.

For this reason, we recommend that you take out personal travel insurance, if you are coming from abroad just in case the minimum number of participants is not reached.
